General Info:

I’ve FINALLY finished these. And when I say finished I mean they’re about 95% done. There are still things I want to add and I may need to tweak stuff as I play more so be sure to follow me on Twitter or Tumblr for updates. Also please message me via those accounts, or Patreon, if you encounter any issues/error messages.

Originally I attempted to update my harvestables when Seasons first came out. Although I could have made the old files compatible, it seemed like a waste when there was this awesome new system EA created just waiting to be used. The perfectionist side of me needed my new harvestables to work seamlessly with it so instead I spent hours delving into the new files and testing out countless combinations of resources to see how they function. Between finding and fixing issues with cloning, meshes, textures, and colors I’ve finally come up with something works well. And in case you were wondering…THAT is why these are being posted so many months after Seasons was released. 🙂

I put a lot of work into these to make them something I felt I could proud of, I hope you enjoy them as much as I do! I also want to give a big thanks to the creators of Sims4Studio and Andrew who helped me figure out the disappearing plants issue.

Files:

The following is included in the download file:

  • Harvestable Overhaul
  • Season Adjustments

The Harvestable Overhaul files along with the Garden Plants file changes the shape and/or textures of the original plant. Patrons voted overwhelmingly to update the world plants with the overhaul, so I’ve included these files as well. This means all plants that you find outside of all the normal lots will have the same look as any overhauled garden plants. There will be a few exceptions to this, like grapes and blackberries, because the garden variant has a more structured/trellised shape than you would actually find in the wild.

The Season Adjustments file does as it implies, and changes the seasons for EA’s harvestables. Where appropriate, plants will still go dormant but I’ve added variants so that some plants will still have leaves in some seasons although it won’t produce harvestables. Other plants, like strawberries, don’t ever go ‘dirt-pile’ dormant because in most places they will keep a few leaves during the winter. This not only feels more true to life but it also keeps your garden from looking completely barren in less fruitful seasons. I’ve built the textures/colors of the plants around the Season Adjustments so don’t forget them or your plants might look weird in game.

For both the Harvestable Overhaul and the Season Adjustment files, make sure you only install the files for the expansion/game packs you own or it may cause problems with your game. Both files also contain overrides of the original harvestable resources so any other mod altering those same resources will conflict.

You’ll need to install the file below for this harvestable to work. Several other harvestables require the same file, please note you’ll only need one copy in your mods folder for all of them.

If you have a previous version of this file be sure to replace it with the most current version.

These files can be found in download as well, but are not required for the overrides to function.

  • dirtSnowTexture_EP05_override
  • gardenFruit_BG_Onion_override
The Dirt Snow override file changes how the snow looks on dirt piles, making it look more consistent with the surrounding snow. Instead of having brown edges when the snow falls on them, dirt piles will blend seamlessly with the snow on the ground.

The Onion override changes the look of the onion fruit to look more like an onion and less like a rock.

Some custom plants turn VERY dark indoors. I’ve already brought the issue up at Sims4Studio and as soon as a solution is found I’ll update my files. Until then, if you leave a wall open in the area you have your plants they will show properly.

Please follow me on Twitter and/or Tumblr for updates to this content.

It’s best to create a separate folder for my [MODS] files so when you’re notified of an update they are all in one spot and easy to find.

  • 19/10/13 – updated for RoM and IL
  • 19/03/10 – Fixed an issue with chrysanthemum plant disappearing on maturity
  • 19/03/10 – I deleted all of the season adjustments for the wild plants because I’m fairly confident now that they were causing those LE errors. I created this mod in-between patches and missed a small section of code on a couple of tunings so I updated those as well.
